Various Projects

Here are additional projects I have created over the last few years as well as images that struck me.

Barber Chair

This is a classic Emil Paidar Barber Chair that I found through a friend. It came from her Father’s long closed barber shop in Chicago. Paidar manufactured chairs in Chicago for years and was the leading provider in the world in the 1930’s-40’s. The mechanical design and artistic design are fantastic! I restored all parts of the chair including stripping and re-plating the nickel finishes. The original upholstery was deep green leather. I have replaced this with the same color vinyl.

Early Spring

As a kid growing up in NH, Spring is a big event. As the world wakes up after what were typically snowy, cold winters the sun starts long dormant processes again. Part of the culture in NH and VT is Sugaring. As a kid, my Dad tapped a few Maple trees. We would insert the spigot and hang a bucket to gather the sap. The local farmer had a small, decaying sugar house that we used to visit and one of other friends/neighbors neighbors had a farm with a large, mature grove of Maples. The form of the sap bucket is very familiar to me. The vision was to create out of the ordinary, visually interesting versions of what are typically gray, tin, sheet metal structures. Despite my typical explanation as a temporary art exhibit, someone stole ALL of my buckets after a few days!

Images

These are photos, images that struck me the right way. I shot most, created some.
